Stages in the development of social assistance forms. The history of social assistance at the national and international level

Abstract

This article aims to present in a concise manner the principal directions of social work development from their early beginnings to the present. The first part of this paper describes the first social work forms/services provided at international level, then we take stock of the history of social work practices in Romania. Starting from the analysis ofsocial work development models systems at national/international level, we try to formulate an answer to the following questions: "Why has Romania lagged behind other countries (UK, France, Germany) in terms of the development of the social work system" and "What are the most recent practices in social work at the international level?"
