This article addresses the topic of resilience in relation to adverse events such as abuse and trauma. The first part of the paper presents the problem of abuse and trauma within the family, both during childhood and adulthood. The two notions are also conceptualized, and a series of effects caused by the presence of the two mentioned hypostases are detailed. The second part of the paper presents the concept of resilience and its importance in overcoming trauma and abuse. The article also identifies sources of resilience, protective factors and potential characteristics specific to the resilient person. The conclusion of the paper emphasizes the critical importance of resilience in learning and practicing the adaptive behaviors necessary to overcome the abuse and the traumatic event.
