Abstract

The present study has taken as its subject matter the Pentateuch account of God’s supernaturally liberating the people of Israel from Egypt, and then bringing it to Sinai where He had entered into a holy alliance with the newly freed people. Here, Israel received the Law of the Ten Commandments on stone tablets to be kept in the ark. Will Israel be faithful to the requirements of the covenant? If not, what will happen with this people? As a response to these questions, the study has found that the concept of tamid is to be taken as YHWH's answer to the raised issues. Israel's security, peace, and identity would last as long as the tamid exists.
