The Subject of the καθαρίζων πάντα τὰ βρώµατα Expression in Mark 7:19

Abstract

This article asks the question who is the antecedent of the phrase καθαρίζων πάντα τὰ βρώµατα in Mark 7:19, and looks also at the theological implications of the choices involved. There are basically two options. The subject of the participle καθαρίζων is either Jesus or the latrine. In this study it is argued for the latter, concluding that Jesus does not nullify the Levitical distinction between the clean and unclear articles of food.
